The certifications that matter for ag operators
Getting certified to operate agricultural spray drones isn't a single course - it's a pathway, with each qualification building on the last. From start to finish you can expect this process take about 10-12 months.
You start with getting your exposition (safety document) submitted to CAA to get your company's Unmanned Aerial Operator's Certificate. Part 102 Pilot Certification gives you the ability to fly under Part 102 conditions, if you're operating under a UAOC. A Chemical Handling course covers the theory required to apply agrichem and fertilisers from the air. Your Operational Competency Assessment assesses your knowledge of the exposition you fly under, and your ability to fly agri drones. Finally, the Agricultural Rating is a two day practical assessment pulls together everything you've learnt from the previous courses.
